The Town has market days every Tuesday and Saturday, plus a fantastic Farmers Market in the High Street on the 3rd Saturday of every month 9:00am to 3:30pm, which offers a great array of locally grown produce.
It is also recognised that there would not be a Leighton Buzzard Town if it wasn't for the market; which dates back to around 909 AD. More than 1,000 years ago, the market met at a local crossroads, which eventually grew into a series of dwellings and then later into a village, then town we see today. It is also one of the first Bedfordshire markets mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The majority of traders at the market are local people townspeople, with many years experience and local knowledge. Whilst many trades have disappeared from the High Street, there are still many stalls including a fresh fish stall, a butcher, two fresh fruit stalls (with local produce) a shoe stall, sweet stall and flower stall with many years of trading experience between them.
As well as amazing produce and value, something else you will be sure to receive from the market traders is the personal touch. The traders always have time to talk to and offer advice to their customers.
